What kind of Tattoo should you get?
The ultimate symbol of personal expression is a tattoo. Once you decide to get one, you want to rely on a highly reputable and experienced tattoo artist to bring your desired body imagery to life. Our tattoo shop counts with a professional and experienced staff that why there is no better place than Lucky Tattoo. With two locations, Miami Beach and Margarita (Venezuela) to serve you, the talented tattoo artists at Lucky Tattoo are able to make any design a reality. The biggest concern you have when getting a tattoo is unsanitary equipment. If the equipment is not t cleaned and disinfected after each use, the risk for getting a disease is very high. You can also end up with a serious skin disease as well, if the tattoo gun is dirty or if the tattoo artist doesnt clean his equipment. The tattoo studio should be clean as well. With a lot of visitors, a studio can get dirty quickly – which is why it should be cleaned on a daily basis. After getting your tattoo, if you notice any swelling or excessive redness around the tattoo, you should visit a doctor immediately, to find out if the tattoo is infected. In most cases, tattoo infections can be treated with medicine. If the infection is severe, you may be admitted to the hospital so they can further treat you. In the more severe cases, you may end up having to get the tattoo removed to prevent further infection. Removing a tattoo requires surgery, which also involves risks as well. If removal of the tattoo is recommended or requested, the procedure can either be performed as an out patient surgery or one that requires a minimal stay in the hospital. The surgeon or physician will determine the removal, based on your health and overall chances of developing an infection. In most cases, tattoo removal is safe, with most patients given medicine that will treat infections and prevent any type of pain. Although health risks are a concern, one of the biggest concerns for may is the overall appearance of the tattoo. Tattoos that are done by amateurs or not applied well, normally result in the appearance being ruined. Tattoos are something that will stick with you for the rest of your life, which is why the appearance is so important. If you get a tattoo removed, chances are that a scar will always remain. Even though most scars will become less noticeable as years go by, they will never completely go away – and always provide a reminder that a tattoo was once there. Before you get a tattoo, you should always make it a point to examine the studio and ensure that it’s clean. You should also ask questions, and make sure that the tattoo artists clean the equipment they use. If you stick around for a bit at the studio, you can normally find out a lot about the way they do business and how clean they are. If the studio appears to be clean and tidy, chances are you won’t have to worry about dirty equipment or infections. As with everything else in life, there is always decision to make. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, you should first decide your reason for getting it, how you will feel about having it later on in life, and if the tattoo is something you can see yourself with. Before you put a permanent tattoo on your body, you should make sure that you are getting the tattoo for you because you want it. Whatever you do, you should always avoid getting a tattoo simply because someone else suggested it.
With so many tattoo studios, how do I choose one?
There are many things to look for in choosing a good tattoo studio. You must visit in person, not call. When you enter look for an overall atmosphere of cleanliness. Even if they are busy you should be acknowledged within a few minutes of entering. Any questions should be answered and they should be willing to take time to talk to you and should make you feel welcome to look around and talk to you briefly as they work. Ask to see photos of their work and if they are in the process of doing a tattoo watch and listen. I have seen terrible tattoos on people that went to a certain studio suggested by a friend because the artist was cool, or had cheap prices or made group deals. Cheap tattoos are not good, and good tattoos are not cheap.
How do I know if they are clean and sterile?
You can tell if a business looks clean or dirty. The bathrooms should be clean. The work area should have washable surfaces, chairs and floors. Sterile conditions are another matter. All tattoo studios should sterilize with an autoclave. This is basically a pressure cooker looking type of machine. It sterilizes under pressure and high heat. All needles, ink cups, water cups, gloves and tissue must be disposable. An artist should never feel offended if you ask questions about their cleaning process and should be able to tell you the process takes.
A studio advertising award winning artists and they had photos in various magazines, are they the best?
While there many good artists with features and photos in these magazines, just as many are not very good. All it takes to have your photos in a magazine is to send them in for publication. With so many different magazines now on the market, the scramble to fill their pages with photos is on. As for the award-winning artists, the same can be true. It seems that there is a tattoo convention taking place every week some place in the USA or abroad. With that many going on it takes some of the credibility out of the awards. While there are some very credible conventions such as the National Tattoo Association, don’t let awards be a deciding factor in your decision. What about the clubs and associations tattoo artists belong to?? Throughout the USA look for members of the National Tattoo Association or the Alliance of Professional Tattooists. In the state of Florida, look for members of the Florida Professional Tattoo Artists Guild.
How much does a tattoo hurt? Where is the least painful area?
I find the best way to describe getting a tattoo is that the outline feels like a cross between a mosquito and a bee sting. The coloring in feels like a sharp scratch. It is really not as bad as most people think. Different areas feel more or less uncomfortable, but there is not a great difference in discomfort.
How do I care for my new tattoo?
After you receive your new tattoo we will give you instructions on the care. Like any intrusion to the skin, it must be kept clean and the ointment applied as per instructions. Failure to follow instructions could result in your tattoo becoming infected, or losing some of the color before it is totally healed. The number one rule in caring for your tattoo is to never touch it without first washing your hands. You should never touch your healing tattoo unless you are washing it or applying ointment or lotion to it.
about after my tattoo has healed?
Once your tattoo has healed you may go back to your normal activities. Applying a good body lotion to you healed tattoo once or twice a day will keep it looking fresh. If you plan on being in the sun, a # 50 waterproof sunk block protection should be applied to prevent fading.
I want a very small tattoo, but the artist says it can’t be done?
You will always be able to find someone to tell you what you want to hear, and there are tattoo artists out there that will do anything a customer asks for. A true professional tattoo artist will tell you when something is too small to get as a tattoo and suggest making it a bit larger or less detailed. The customer that looks for someone that will do it too small will be disappointed eventually. It may look good for awhile, but all tattoos spread some. This is called ink migration and tiny lines to close together may blend into each other and your tattoo ends up losing its detail and looks blotchy.
Can I get different colors in my tattoo?
The colors that you want can be as varied as your imagination. The only time we will interject our opinion is when the colors that you are selecting won’t look good together. We will then recommend a color combination as close to your wishes as possible. If you’re not sure about what colors will look good we will be more than happy to help guild your decision. I have my own design that I want as a tattoo. Can I get that? We encourage our customers to bring in their own designs or ideas. If the picture or drawing is legible, we can do it. We also require a small non-refundable deposit that will be deducted from the price of your tattoo when you get it. We will always give you a price for your custom tattoo when you leave it. Be patient and you will be pleased with your personal tattoo for the rest of your life.
